A barking offer for Monty

In a zealous drive for new business, the Royal Bank of Scotland sent a credit card application to a dog called Monty, offering him a generous £10,000 limit and the chance to earn air miles.
The owner of the Shih Tzu, Raymond Slater, of Cheadle Heath, near Manchester, received a letter in the name of Monty Slater, but can not imagine how the pet became registered as a resident. He said: "At first I thought it was someone soliciting for pet insurance.
"I was tempted to fill in the form and put a paw print in the box but I'd have had to give his date of birth which would show he was only two and a half years old and I guess that would be fraudulent."
The Royal Bank of Scotland apologised for the error, saying the name came from a third party.
