Does anyone think we will finish higher in the table than they previously thought?

Looks like I got our start wrong, luckily...

I think it's a little bit too early to say that - sterner test lie ahead in what is still very much the beginning of the season.

I'll be delighted if we don't get relegated. Encouraging to see that there seemed to be a new emphasis on trying to create chances which was woefully missing last season, and glad to see the back of the petulant and wildly over-rated CKR.

Long way to go tho, and there will be many days when all those first-half squandered chances will cost the club valuable points.

I can't see us losing Lynch this season - not unless a prem club goes into panic mode about securing him (similar to Arsenal with Walcott). I doubt if we'd sell him for less than £1M and that would be too much of a gamble for most clubs.

However, after a successful season at CB and lots of rave reviews, I would think it almost a certainty that he'd go.

Agree with Buck that we'll have a clearer picture after the Forest game. Potentially that could be two sides with 3 wins behind them going head to head at the top.

I do think Rotherham and Gillingham were too hard games though. Rotherham away, eager to make up the 10 points and Gills who finished last year in form and won on Saturday.

Forest have Tyson injured, which is good news for us. Revell looked more lively in front of goal than I expected and doesn't look afraid to shoot. Could he come really good for us?

For now I'm dreaming of 9 points from the next 3. :jester:

Make no mistake we are one of the strongest sides in this division, I expected probable promotion but at the least the play offs before the season but now can see no reason why we cannot win this division with realtive ease.

We have just had 2 seasons in the championship, we have kept the vast majority of that squad and the massive importance that will have in their confidence.

We have several players who can be the amoungst the best players in this division such as

Henderson
Kuipers
Carpenter
Hammond
Frutos
Robinson
Lynch
El Abd

Even our medicore players will be strong in this division. We will boss games, teams will fear us and dread playing us.

We have an excellent manager with a track record of getting teams from this division not no other manager in this league can beat.

We have huge support on the road which only a couple of other teams can match. We will once near the top be getting 7000 - 9000 sell out or near sell out gates here. When we booted LDC and Norman " I am a wanker " Baker into touch in December and Ed Bassford wins his election, the momentum and good feeling will carry us to our superb division one championship and I will collect my booty from Ladbrokes Plc.

Believe.

Brentford will be a test on saturday as they too are unbeated

Forest away we will raise our game as its the big away game like Elland rd last year.

I think Crewe at home is a good watershed for the season. We have not beaten them in ages.

We have the players to finish in the top six but whether we will do is another matter as I do not think McGhee will get the best out of them.

Will be better placed to comment after Forest and Bristol City away.

We are still missing a real goal scorer with a proven record at this level and we do not have strength in depth. IMO, McGhee will not be to blame if we do not get promoted.

Yes, definitely. It'll also be much easier to slag off McGhee after the away fixtures at the two biggest clubs in the division, which must be something to look forward to amongst the current doom and gloom of winning.

Where did I say that?

If we keep winning games I will keep NOT slagging off McGhee.

I do not think in the long term he is the best man for the job but that argument lacks a bit of validity when the team are winning.

Rotherham were poor and Gillingham were not much better BUt two wins and two clean sheets is encouraging and long may it continue.

To early to tell yet for me, a good start however.

Fingers crossed we maintain this!

I reckoned around 8th to 10th and without a target man I don't expect much better. I haven't seen us play this season so not really qualified to have a strong opinion.

Just a bit. But Forest is not an acceptable test for judging how good McGhee's team are any more than playing Rotherham, playing the best and worst teams tells you little if you lose and win, respectively.

Much more interesting is how well we play against the teams that are around our level, the likes of the Gills, the Brentfords, the Crewes. If we demonstrate we are better than them, then mid-table might be an underestimate of our potential.

It's just a little bit odd that the two fixtures you deign to judge him on happen to be away against the biggest two clubs in our league and, sadly, are therefore more likely than most to result in our defeat.

You might as well say "well, we may be doing all right but I've actually decided to use the cup tie away against Tottenham as my methodology to see if this guy's any good or not". Whatever, who gives a f***.

I said we will challenge for the play-offs and just miss out, now I think we could even get in the play-offs, but it is still very early.
