Spaniards seem to pick up the lingo so fast.

I was surprised how the likes of Bruno arrived here and were like "que?" and within a couple of months they were stringing together full sentences better than Ashley Barnes ever could.

His personality probably played a part in that. An extrovert, talkative person usually gains fluency much faster than a shy, quiet person like Vicente.

Vicente's English was actually very good. He was just not comfortable speaking it during interviews or in public. Just the nature of the guy.
