Hang on a minute are you talking about this player?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_Williams_%28footballer%29

Who hasn't scored a single goal in 30 appearances and, according to Wikipedia and your official website, is actually a midfielder???

:lolol:

We play a formation where Murray is the only striker in the team. He is then flanked by two wingers, Zaha and Bolasie and one attacking central midfielder who plays in the hole. Although Dobbie can play wide (he's started there ahead of Bolasie once) he is mainly a central attacking midfielder just like Williams. If you think that Dobbie is a better player than Williams fine, but please don't tell me I'm wrong in my views, with all due respect I've seen both players play many times.

Dobbie is a great signing for us, seems a real classy player on the ball. But Williams is a player that is going all the way to the very top. You obviously didn't go to the Amex last year in our 3-1 win as you would have seen him clearly win MOM that night. You obviously also missed the Watford v Palace game on Sky 2 weeks ago where he came on at HT, massively helped change the game for us from 2-0 down to 2-2 and was Sky's MOM. To be honest you sound like a JCL/plastic as you're basing his talent purely on a goals to games ratio. Trust me, the goals will come for him soon enough, he never has had a full extensive run in the team due to injuries until now. But he offers us so much more, great first touch, strong in the tackle for a small lad, pace, skill and his best attribute, his amazing ability to run with ball, it literally stays glued to him. He is an unbelievable talent and a lot of Palace fans believe he will have an even better career than Zaha in the long term.

I must admit I probably do seem like a JCL or a "plastic". And I admit that I actually have only managed to make it to one game at the Amex this season. This is because the Amex is a little far from my flat at the present moment and I don't get championship games on the telly where I live.

In any case, it doesn't really matter that I myself am not in a position to judge which of the two players is better because of a few simple facts.

Ian Holloway thinks that Dobbie is better than Williams.
Ian Holloway is the manager of a championship football team.
You are NOT a manager and have probably never worked in any capacity for a professional football team at any point in your career.

Therefore I have to consider which person's opinion carries more weight.

Aaaaaaannnnd I think I'm gonna go with Holloway on this one.

So. Dobbie is better than Williams and will be missed in the play-off games should he score the goals to get you there.

No he does not, hence Williams starting on Tuesday night with Dobbs on the bench. Williams has not played a lot of games this season due to injuries. He's back now and getting a lot of game time. Funny that.
