Do we really need another striker?

Iwelumo, Bent. Perhaps this thread should be renamed 'big useless cabbages who should be put out to pasture'

The way we are going we are outgrowing these sort of rubbish journeyman players who would command too higher wage. We play good football and whilst i agree it would be handy to have a plan B with a big centre forward to work off I really think were better than these players getting mentioned.

i can personally already see enough goals coming from attacking midfield and the wings to justify not needing another striker. IF we had to get someone in, it would have to be a target man - Iwluemo??

Pray tell where this attacking midfield is that you talk about?! Clearly I'm excluding Buckley, KLL and Noone from this equation but seriously we need an imposing CM with goals in their boots to not consider investing in smomething proven.

As we seem to have played two strikers in each league game so far, I'd say we do. If we get an injury to CMS, Hoskins or Barnes then we'd have a problem.

I was taking into consideration Buckley, and the impending signing of Harley.

Im going to get so much stick for this, but I think Emile Heskey would be perfect for us. I know he turned Sven down lately so very much doubt he would come here, wages etc etc....Heskey up front with CMS would be awesome much like when he partnered Owen for England when he was in his prime. I know that was years ago but his experence and strenght would be ideal.

I think we are a striker light - and whilst we don't play target man football, a target man might be what we need against certain sides. I like the idea of CMS feeding of knock-downs - could be devastating. And that doesn't stop us playing tippy tappy as well.

Midfield looks good to me if we add Harley (assuming he is as good as everyone says).

I worry about Calde by Sir Vincelot can cover I think. As El Abd and Elphick get better then the need for a CB lessens.

So right back cover and a target striker would do it for me.

I think you're right .............. you're going to get a load of stick!!!

Only from the people who jump on the Heskey is a donkey bandwagon...33 yrs old, 6ft 2in, 62 caps for England(a whole string of managers thought he was the perfect foil up front, not just a couple), experence at the very top level his whole carrer....All the jokes aside, anyone who thinks Heskey would not be a fantastic signing for any club in this division is quite frankly a idiot, who knows naff all about football.
