of unrealistic fans or is it that all of them post on NSC :)

1) Yes
2) No, but a lot of them do.

Well, we do have a lot of unrealistic fans, but probably no more than many other clubs. Just think - we could be Spurs.

Since the reorganisation of the league into a 4-division ladder in 1958, our average finish has been 50th (median 48th) out of 92. We are currently 44th. We have spent 20 seasons (not including this one) in the top two divisions and 26 in the bottom two. In other words, we are currently in the higher reaches of our natural/historic position. You may not like it, but we are not a big club. If you want to support a big club then start supporting ManUre or Chelsea or Arsenal or somebody like that. If you want to support your local/family team come what may, stick with us.

whats unrealistic bout wanting to bring some players in or at least put up a fight in trying to stay up

1) How do you know what's happening re new players?
2) Do you really believe after what this team has done in the last 5 years that they are now not trying?

Do I think you are being unrealistic? In a word - YES

And failing year on year to live up to the expectations of their fans having spent millions of pounds. We, on the other hand, have just had one of the most successful periods in our history, at the sort of level we have generally played at in our history. Yes, I'd like to see us do well in the division we're in - but I ain't complaining. I've been to too many awful 0-0s at places like Carlisle to complain.

We do have a lot of whingers, but there´s a difference between that and justly criticising - too many people get abused on here just for daring to speak out. I think it´s too early to go overboard, but if we reach Christmas with this side, we will have every right to complain.

Wolves are even worse than us and Spurs

I believe it's more that too many people have an expectation level beyond our means. Some people see a bit of glory and off they go thinking that this is how it should always be.

When I started watching the Albion in 1978, we were forever on the up. I was so downcast when Arsenal beat us 4-0 on the opening day of 1979-80 season. I just expected us to win because that was what I was used to happening. But then I was only nine when they beat us. Can other people use that as an excuse for today's whinging?

Staying up is a realistic expectation - but the means to achieve any more than that are not there. We can just about compete at this level. And if I can point out thing which is abundantly clear - WE ARE NOT DOWN YET. FFS, when we won Division 3 in 2001, we lost three of our first four matches.

It pisses me off in the extreme when people say "oh, McGhee turned down so and so', or 'X was available but McGhee wasn't interested...' How do they know what the story was? 'X' may not have wanted to come here, or we may not have been able to afford them or any number of reasons. Just because they are mentioned in the papers or on the telly does not make them an automatic target for McGhee.

Does anyone think that McGhee wants to scupper his own career, or the reputation of his employers, by deliberately acquiring sub-standard players? We have in our squad the players that we can afford. Reality check: we are not a fashionable, nor a wealthy club. We are, in some people's eyes 'bad news'. No stadium, small match attendances, no major assets. And there ar many people who want to see Brighton & Hove Albion go to the wall. This is the reality the club is living under. We are still a club on its knees - which admittedly is a damn sight better than being in the gutter looking down the drain, which is what we were doing seven years ago.

It's not just the above average number of unrealistic fans, it's that we have far too many glory-hunters.

I think expectations are far to high given the resources available.

We have been playing each season since returning from Gillingham with a huge drain on finances for Falmer.

When that is agreed the club can then look to invest on the playing side.

Hardly surprising though there are some big teams in the Championship - West Ham, Leeds, Leicester, Wolves, Derby, Coventry, Sunderland etc.

They can pay much better wages than us and will attract better players.

In a completely arse-about-face way, I think that was the point I was trying to make... ;)

If BHAFC started to pay wages of £10K plus a week to a lot of players expect the receivers to arrive very quickly.

However if we had Falmer and a bigger revenue stream then things can easily improve.

I have mentioned this several times and will again for the record - does BHAFC have the right commercial set up for the time when Falmer is built ?

I sincerely hope the club will reduce season tickets etc otherwise they will not attact support.
