Argument being that we averaged around 8-9,000 in the lowest tier of English football at a run down ground that was falling apart and could not be upgraded to offer specatators the kind of facility that is now expected (leicester-walkers, Bolton-reebok, Southampton-St Mary's etc) and that if you offer better facilities to spectators then more spectators will come to games.

Let's look at Hull City as an obvious example of that.

2006-7 Average attendance at KC Stadium : 18,560
1997-8 Average attendance at Boothferry Park: 4,681

Dammed right - new stadium = new future.

DK has done a very good job for the club and for the fans and those muppets that want to make snidy comments should be ashamed. Without him there may well have been no club and although he may not be perfect we should all be grateful for his hard work and dedication

I take my hat off to Dick Knight and all he has achieved, but I think too many supporters have delusions as to the size of the club. People are quick to state successes of Hull and Southampton, but ignore the likes of Walsall and Oxford both with new grounds. We have great away support and can call on plenty for the big games. But we need people to go week in week out in all sorts of weather, watching all sorts of games, good and bad. We are not a big club, never will be unless someone with the sort of money Dick Knight can only dream of comes in, and I cannot see how a new ground is going to change anything much as far as team performance is concerned. We managed to get to the Championship at the Withdean, can we go further at Falmer.

We have achieved attendances in the past that the likes of Oxford and Walsall could only dream of. You my friend, are talking complete bollocks. We are one of the biggest clubs in the lower leagues.

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
Walsall have always been a tiny club. They compete with the likes of WBA, Wolves, Villa and Birmingham, all in close proximity.

Oxford United have been in freefall for a long time. They faced a similar situation to us, but the playing squad was completely ignored and Kassam was not a popular chairman. Now they have got a decent board, I would expect them to push up the league, as long as they can get out of the Conference as soon as possible. It is going to take a while for them to establish themselves again, after being owned and run by Firoz, who had no interest in football whatsoever. He wanted the Manor to redevelop, which he did.

Totally agree, one of the biggest in the lower leagues. I disagree with everyone who think we are a sleeping giant and a new ground is going to produce miracles
