While driving home from work and listening to the game today, I swear Andrew Hawes stated one of the Albion players displayed "the first touch of a camel" following a particularly inept attempt at controlling the ball.

Can anyone confirm this, or was I hearing things, as my brain tried vainly to filter out the inane geriatric ramblings of Norman Gall?

Perhaps he said "the first touch of McCammon"?

And what exactly is the first touch of a camel anyway?

We've all heard the saying of Touch of a Rapist, but that is a new one on me. :lolol: :lolol: :lolol:

I also assumed it was a derogatory term, but it was so off the wall I wasn't sure if I'd heard it right.

Made me laugh though, and I'm glad someone else noticed, if only as proof my hearing's not starting to malfunction in my old age

:lolol:

I like it, it sounds like an excellent term of abuse to me, and so much more tasteful than the "rapist" one.

Bring on the camels

I realise my ever-youthful looks are deceptive but I'm entering the last few months of my 20s

Did anybody else notice that Norman's ramblings reached fever pitch when John Curtis came on and he had no idea what his full name was, who he was or what position he played.

*that would be John Curtis not himself, although I do question whether Norm can indeed remember those details about himself.

Sorry Harty, I understand that Norman was a bit of an Albion hero in his day, but listening to him now is just an embarrassment.

Hearing him go on is like listening to some sad, shell shocked old war veteran, who can't remember what day of the week it is and just wishes his old mates were around to remind him of past glories. He's the Uncle Albert of the SCR commentary team, and it's frankly painful- I'm not expecting Switzerland style neutrality from the pair of them, this is local radio after all.

But nor do I want blindly rose-tinted views of the Albion, with every foul we commit put down to opposition cheating, soft referees or the game not being as hard as it used to be, every shit pass being the fault of the lumpy pitch, and every goal conceded being a lucky bounce or the result of a linesmen's conspiracy.

During the war...

I assume that was referring to Hammond, who managed to make more hand balls than successful first touches today!
