Disabled season ticket holders

I'm not sure how many disabled season ticket holders read nsc but I thought I'd let you know ( if you don't know already ) that the club have decided to reinstate concessionary rates for disabled fans this season. I've just had a letter in the post telling me that STH's who have paid in full like myself are getting a refund on the cost of season tickets as well as any cup tickets purchased this season. Apparently the concessionary rates will stay in place until phase 2 of stadium has been completed and will then be reviewed.
There is one slight drawback to the refund though as it's not being given in cash instead it's being put on our season ticket smartcards to spend at any of the club outlets with the EXCEPTION of the ticket office. Looks like i'm going to have a lot of pies to eat before I get my money back.

I'd say that this is of very dubious legality. They're giving a refund to you so whey won't they give a proper, financial refund - rather than a refund that you effectively can't use?

But the Customer Charter is probably a bit out of date with current legislation. It's a bit of grey area.

I would rather have had the refund in money or at least have the option to knock it off the price of next years season ticket but as it stands I've either got to spend the money in the club shop on things I don't want or pig myself silly on beer and pies.

Good news, and a move in the right direction!

Maybe you could work something out with somebody on here who was going to be spending money on, say, a shirt, in the shop anyways. Agree its not as good as a straightforward refund or being able to use it for next season's ST. Maybe if enough people were to press the club they might make it so.

Nobody is obliged to give a refund; but if they do they can give it any way they want; for example HMV will refund onto a gift card (pretty much the same here).

5.5 Disabled Supporters
Disabled supporters will be charged the appropriate concessionary season ticket price equivalent to the pricing structure in the area in which they purchase their seat.

which is pretty clear to me. If they haven't been doing this up-to-now and have been pulled up on it, how can they not provide a genuine refund?

for example HMV will refund onto a gift card (pretty much the same here).

Well that's not the same, because the customers here predominantly buy football tickets, and this refund doesn't allow them to do so. If the club didn't have to give the refund, then I think this is a very nice gesture. If they had to give it, then it needs to be cash/towards tickets.

28th July is so recent it's not clear that it applies to this season (where tickets were already on sale by then). I assume the same rule applied the year before anyway?

Is it? Doesn't that simply mean that if you bought 1 ticket, you'd get the same discount that a disabled season ticket holder in the same area gets? Does it actually say anywhere that disabled season ticket holders should get 5/10/15% discount on the price of a season ticket?

Seems strange and mean, you can not put it towards a new season ticket as the refund resulted by buying a season ticket in the first place.

In my experience clubs don't give refunds to anyone out of the kindness of their hearts, even BHA!

So if they're doing it because they have to do it - then do it properly!

And if the Customer Charter is out of date, someone at the Football League needs to be asking serious questions about why?

Have the club said what the plans are for wheelchair seating when the corners are filled in?

This has come about from the discussions we(BODS) had with the club last year. We were told that the concessionary rate for adult wheelchair users was being withdrawn as it was no longer appropriate as there was more choice in the new stadium. The problem was that 50% of the wheelchair spaces needed to be at a raised level. This did not include any premium seating(i.e 1901 club). Phase one did not meet this requirement so last April the club agreed to reinstate the concessionary rate until the completion of phase 2. We have had to chase them up but they have now given the refunds. We would obviously rather of had a cash refund but after nine months, we got something. We will obviously be talking to the club reguarding next season. Once phase 2 is completed the concessionary rate will be withdrawn. We have seen the plans for phase 2 & they will be far & above what is required by law. Around 75% of general seating for wheelchair users will be at a raised level & we are happy with what we have seen. Obviously there will still be issues reguarding travel/ parking but we will continue to work with the club to try & find solutions.

There will be raised wheelchair areas in all 4 corners as well as in the East Stand. We have seen the plans & think they are excellent. The issue will still be parking but it is a case of trying to find solutions. We were disappointed with the seating available at the moment but feel Phase 2 should correct all these issues.

I did think about sharing it around but I'd hate to be the cause of obesity in others so this is a sacrifice i'll have to make myself, Looks like a large chunk of my refund will be going on beer and pies and the rest on a bigger shirt in the club shop.
