Berbatov is not a player suited to United with the way they play. He may have been top scorer for one season but 99% of his goals were against the lower league teams, he very rarely played well in the big games and certainly did not score many in them. He was probably told he was required last season because with Rooney (slightly injury prone), Hernandez and Wellbeck both inexperienced, he would have needed him as back up. With Van Persie there, he was not needed, hence he's gone.

He says he has lost a little respect for Fergie, I think Fergie might say the same back now!

BBC Sport - Dimitar Berbatov criticises Man Utds Sir Alex Ferguson

What are your impressions of him after reading this article? For me, he comes across as a spoilt, petulant little twat. Anyone else arrive at that conclusion?

No. Quite the opposite. Seems a perfectly reasonable interview.

He was out of the team, despite being the league's top scorer the previous season. His scoring record at United was very, very good (48 in 103?). He's conducted himself well at the club, by quietly speaking with the manager to ask why he's not involved. Ferguson should have done the decent thing by him a year ago and told him where he stood, rather than constantly telling him he was needed, then not using him.

Yes he does come across as a bit of a cry-baby and not someone that endears himself to supporters. Very few Man Utd fans (at least the ones I know) rated him even when he was scoring goals for fun.

reading the comments yesturday, taken at face value seems to have fair enough point. he's sat around bench warming for over a season, told he's valued but not played. not sure where the "spoilt" part comes from?

Top scorer in the league one season, then completely dropped the following, didn't come out in the press at the time, very professional.

Understandably frustrated, an absolute top quality player who should be playing regularly.

Got the Murray problem that because "he looks a bit sad and that" thick mongs think he's lazy/rubbish etc.

Very much this .... Fergie paid £30m for him and yet almost from the start of his career rednose used him as a sub rather than a starter. He seemed to take this quite well despite the press regularly pointing out that you buy a striker for that amount you don't have him warming the bench. He was ridiculously about 5th choice striker for some reason but if he had been anywhere else he would have started. Strange

Like most things in football we don't know what went on so it's difficult to make any kind of judgement. Maybe he was treated poorly, maybe he's just spat the dummy because he wasn't good enough (or Ferguson didn't think he was good enough, which is all that matters) but in my opinion he should just get on with it, prove himself on the pitch and not chuck dirt around, it serves no purpose and I doubt Ferguson will bother to issue any kind of response.

Very much this. Plus, it hurt him being left out of the CL final squad, in place of Michael Owen. There wasn't much more he could do to get a place. Never complained, did what was required of him. Nothing wrong with what he has said in my opinion. He is just a frustrated player, and can you blame him?

I agree with the above , but as a premier league footballer its a good bet that he is a spoilt , petulant twat, just no more so than the rest.

Fergie did the same thing with Kuszczak.

At times you wonder whether Man Utd just buy up players to stop the opposition having them.

There does seem to be a lot of that going on and as much as I despise ManU, it isn't just them doing it. Man C and Chelski are in that club along with a number of top European sides.

At the end of the day he is a class act and a great signing for Fulham. Trouble is there are far too many players in the Premiership bench warming because they get paid too much and don't want to take a wage cut to get first team football. Surely it is better to be a big fish in a smaller pond rather then a smaller fish in a huge one.

I'm sure like most other clubs it's more about having depth to your squad. When you're playing 60+ games a season, you need more than just a strong starting 11. No point having an excellent starting 11 and piss-poor back-up players. Kuszczak was never going to be first choice ahead of Van Der Sar, he knew that. He was happy to be on the bench.
