Dilemma! What to do?

Having got through to the Play-Off Final, I'm left with a bit of a dilemma. As it is a Bank Holiday weekend, I had talked to my GF about the possibility of having a long weekend together camping in the New Forest. We've had a couple of troubles recently, so it would be a great chance for us to spend some really relaxing time together. She's a big football fan too (plays footie and knows just as much as I do about the game) and I kinda assumed she'd be up for going to the Final.

Only, she's not. She says that it doesnt really interest her (she doesnt support Brighton) and doesnt want to make the journey to Cardiff. Seeing as how we'd be in the New Forest, it's only a 2 hour drive to Cardiff which would be really convenient - leave mid morning and get back in the evening.

She tells me to go without her, but I'm not about to leave her in the middle of a campsite on her own for an entire day whilst I go and sit in the Millennium Stadium on my own. No point saying "dump her" or anything like that, because that's really not an option whatsoever. Wish there was a way to convince her what a great experience it'd be. =/

You don't have to dump her...but if she doesn't want you to go to a once in a lifetime(ish) experience then dump her!

She may not like football or the Albion but she surely realises that you do and the playoff final is a 'must do' event for any Albion fan.

Bollocks to getting wet in a tent in the New Forest-get yourself down to the Millenium Stadium. You know it makes sense!

Take her out for a romantic meal this weekend to score some brownie points, buy two tickets for the Final and convince her that you have loads of weekends together in the future but a match at the Millenium Stadium is not to be missed.

Do not, repeat NOT, miss the match yourself. Remember young grasshopper, girlfriends come and go but Albion is for life...

Just go camping nearer to Cardiff, then you won't be away so long. Easy, job done!:drink:
Then again, you said, she loves football, surely she'd enjoy the spectacle of the Playoff Final?

Well, it's twice in a lifetime. =P

She loves football. She just says that she has no interest in the game. I cant understand it - even for a neutral, she's lived in Hove all her life.

Actually, that's not such a bad idea and was one thing that she suggested. But as you say - any football fan would love the experience of 60,000 fans in a stadium. I think that if I'm taking her to the UKRAINE next year for the 50th Eurovision Song Contest, then surely she can accompany me to Cardiff for a day.

She can't love football THAT much then, if she's passing up an opportunity to see a match at one of the most awesome stadiums in Europe.

I think she's testing you. She knows how important this match is, and how unmissable it is for all Albion fans....she's basically seeing whether you'll put the Albion before her or not.

I suggest you fail her test miserably.

Maybe its one of those tests a women does to see how much you love them

Try this:

Go camping and at Sunday lunchtime tell her you are just nipping off to arrange a romantic meal in Burley or Lyndhurst - go to Cardiff - get back in time to take her to that meal (arranged the week before you went) and explain the car broke down and then you got lost etc etc

I'm amazed she doesn't want to visit the Millennium Stadium if she's a football fan. It really is an amazing experience if you haven't been before. And the atmosphere in the city centre is always fantastic before big matches at the Stadium. Surely you can convince her of that?

If you can't sell the play-off final to her, then try to sort out a camping trip to South Wales. One thing we're not short of in this area is plenty of beautiful countryside.

Just leave our sheep alone while you're here......

Ah, Bluebird. Perfect =)

I was just looking at some local camping sites. Do you know much of the area for that kind of thing? I was checking out the website for Llantwit Major, but I'd prefer something with a bit more forest. What kind of sites do you know like that? Preferably something fairly close to a town with a railway station, so I can get the train into Cardiff and not worry about parking...

It's not massively foresty, but Abergavenny is fabulous. On the edge of the brecon beacons, only half hour from cardiff by train, nice pubs, and you can take her to the Walnut Tree (as featured on Gordon ramsey vision) for a romantic meal.

We were there last september and loved it.

You're talking to the wrong man for this type of thing. Naturally enough, as I live here, I've never been camping in South Wales!

I'm told by a colleague that the Dare Valley Country Park in the Aberdare area is nice(and has easy train access to Cardiff), but I honestly haven't got a clue myself.

Shouldn't be too hard to find some decent South Wales sites on the net. Mind you, another thing to take into consideration is the train services. Remember, the game is on a Sunday and it's Bank Holiday weekend.

Ah, excellent. Big thanks to you both. Averdare and Abergavenny look perfect. I'll have to investigate these a little, but it's all looking very promising indeed. I'm sure she'll end up coming with me, but it's just confusing as to how tricky it has been to persuade her to go to such a big match. Thanks! =)

Perhaps she saw last night's 'thriller' and has had enough of watching Albion for the time being! Let's be honest, apart from the last minute drama and the penalties, the game was about as exciting as watching wood warp!

*sigh*
"Found some really nice camping in Wales. Brecon Beacon. Walking. Cycling."

"Been there"

"Abergavenny? Aberdare? Not fancy going back?"

"No it was really nice. But it's a long way from Cardiff"

"45 min train journey to Cardiff. Means we can drink too. Perfect."

"I really dont wanna go to the game baby. x"
I'm not gonna go without her. Just cant understand why anyone would want to miss out on such an incredible atmosphere at the best stadium in the country. =/

If you love her then being with her is what is more important. Sort your relationship out. Take her wherever she wants to go and take a radio with you, then when she's not looking smash her over the head with the radio and leg it to Cardiff!!!!

Find out if there's somewhere that she would really like to go (shopping, health spa, etc) on the way to Cardiff. Drop her there with your credit card :)lolol: ) and pick her up on the way back.

Easy
