I actually think this is a tough one for Danny been at the club 5 years over 240 league Club Captain, adored by supporters, He is a southern lad wife and kids settled in a nice area, lots of friends, Security, Decent Wage nice house, The possibilty of leading us out at falmer..

Or he could go to Sheff Utd, Not a great area if he wants to move there no guarantee of 1st team footy uprooting the wife and kids, Sheff utd supporters to win over as they don;t appear to be to sure about...

Discuss i dont think it is cut and dried by any means...

depends if hes getting a couple of grand a week more really !

And if he only has a season or two left in him then he can just rent a place up there and earn more for his retirement

He'll have to grow his hair back; it's cold up north.

Maybe that is why he is stalling.

It's very like the BZ scenario. Big fish in small pond - hero. Small fish in big pond - nobody.

Is money enough ? Probably in a short career it is more significasnt than it would be for some of us.

It would need to be a pretty good financial offer for DC to take it - I guess.

I was once told by an old workmate of mine,"If they offer you a penny more than us across the road, take it!"

I think he will go and I wish him all the best.

I don't think it's a difficult decision at all from his point of view. He should go. He owes nobody anything here, has won two championships and another promotion in impossibly difficult circumstances. The club he is at can go no higher for at least three years, and in all probability will go down first.

He is in his late 20s, may not get too many more opportunites for a decent move. In the same way no one with a brain could berate Currie for wanting to better himself, the same is true of Cullip, who even though he has wanted to move in the past, has given everything when back in the side. That's about as much loyalty as you can expect these days, if he goes it is again the set-up, (that has cost us at least three managers and God knows how many players that didn't want to come here) that is responsible.

I'm amazed any decent pro puts up with Withdean, to be honest, and am just grateful that so many players have hung around long enough to make such a complete dump ironically the scene of some of our greatest triumphs since I have been supporting the club.

McGhee told BBC SCR: "We don't want him to leave. It's a hostile bid, we've offered him a new deal as good as anything anyone has ever had here."

"As much as Danny is a strong character we have come to the conclusion the best thing is for him to sit Friday out."

It's a bastard time to move. Week before Christmas and you've got to sort out moving up to Yorkshire from Sussex. He's got to get accomodation sorted out, probably have to stay in a hotel on Christmas Day evening in order to play against Coventry.

True - I've told the story before but my mates son was offered a contract with us under Coppell and turned it down because he wouldn't train on Xmas Day to play at Norwich on Boxing Day. Just as well as he has been injured ever since and gave away a goal on his return to the Northampton team last week.

Never a truer word said.
I wonder how many other players in teams in The League, never mind The Championship, have to take there training kit/match kit home and wash it themselves?

I keep asking myself why no one tried to sign DC when he was on the transfer list 3 years ago? I thought he was an even better player then. ???

I think it a really tough decision. If this offer is really superb then it is a tough choice. Does he want to sit on the bench at Sheff Utd or play regular first team football with us and be a proud captain who will lead us out at Falmer. He has to take his wife and kids dicision aswell, so this aint goodbye this is just pray at church time.

Leicester did when Micky was manager there. But he was offered exactly the same money, and so took himself off the transfer list. I heard it on very good authority.
