Under the circumstances, it's no wonder the players reacted as they did. Of course they shouldn't have done, but after all, they're only human!

Was it Roberts first punch on target all season?

If only Roberts had been so quick off the mark for the Stockport goal.

Reminded me of Kevin Bremner.....flat on his arse with nothing achieved!:jester:

Wasn't the problem that he did get off his line to quick and should have just waited to pick the ball up ?

Well the incident has unsurprisingly been included in the referee's report. Once the FA check the video footage Roberts and some of the others involved may well find themselves in more trouble.

Fran, your one-man campaign to have Roberts declared as a man of sweetness and light is all very well, and rather sweet, but he sprinted 50-odd yards and launched himself into the melee. He was very, very lucky to only get a yellow.

And as for the whole thing about team spirit etc, would you like to explain how doing something as stupid as that, risking suspension at a time when goalkeeping isn't exactly the strongest area of our squad, in any way benefits the team or the club - or any of his colleagues individually? If McGhee was angry with him, he had every right. Think about the team, Ben, and don't do something so stupid ever again.

On a separate note, he was pretty poor for their goal. Hesitant, flat-footed, and what was he doing that far out, anyway? Roberts' refusal to protect his line and propensity for wandering out of his area has played a very large part in many of the goals he has conceded this season. I'm not doubting that on his day he is a good shot-stopper, and I don't want to see him leave the club, but at times he plays like a parks keeper (apologies to the parks keepers out there).
