from what i saw harding wanted to take a quick throwing but one of there players was either down reciveing treatment or wanted to bring a sub on (not sure which) so the stockport bench tryed to keep hold of the ball to stop the throwing being taken then all of a sudden it errupted, roberts didn't help he's clame by rushing of he's line and should have been s/off there were a few punches thrown but i would like to see it again on tv

Just seen it on TV several times in slow motion etc.

McIlroy thrust the ball into Hardings 'lower stomach', it was certainly to wind him...as good as a punch in my book. Then all hell broke out, for some reason our players dont like to see a teenage kid get taken advantage of by some big brute. Top marks to Ben, sorted the bastards out without getting sent of.

Booker and McGhee appeared to be yelling at their player, not Ben Roberts.

Nice to see team spirit, but a shame they couldnt find a more suitable outlet.

Exactly what I thought. Ben Roberts should not have been booked. He was an easy target as he was easily distinguishable anongst all the other "offenders".. MacIlroy should be the one in trouble - he was responsible for almost causing a riot! He was a disgrace. Luckily McPhee (who has been decribed as "too nice" is of a placid nature or he would probably have retaliated and I must say I wouldn't have blamed him for doing so in the heat of the moment. Unfortunately it always seems to be the one who retaiates rather than the instigator who gets punished.

Of course he should! He was lucky not to get sent off, as was El Abd.

Others would probably have been booked if the officials could distinguish them from the crowd as easy as they could with Roberts.

That's the point - he was unfortunate to be singled out. He was no worse than the rest of them - it's all been blown up out of all proportion - as usual!

Roberts shouldhave got a red, which would have been a bonus as he would have been suspended. He is a liability!

Don't agree.

The other culprits were lucky not to be singled out.

Complete and utter tosh! I can't be bothered to argue any more. Whatever he does some people will not only put the knife in but twist it. Go and kiss Kuipers' a**e in the Reserves - when he's eventually fit!

The real culprit was MacIlroy who got off scot free. He caused the problem.

Yes well it is well known that you will get into just as much trouble in football, if not more, for retaliating.

As I am sure you have told your son on many an occasion-two wrongs do not make a right!!

I've always thought that very unfair - the person who is most at fault is the instigator - it's human nature and instinctive to retaliate and also to stick up for your mates when they are wronged. Some people are more prone to doing it actively than others, some can control their emotions better than others..

My son is old enough to make his own decisions.

It should of course be "turn the other cheek" and not "an eye for an eye" but most people instinctively adopt the latter stance!

Surprised Roberts didn't get sent off,he did run 30 yards + to get involved, even Jones started warming up expecting to have to go on.Having said that it was great to see both Butters and Roberts sticking up for the others.Roberts really showed he cared and was great to see. Also this was on the back of Harding being taken out late a few minutes earlier again Butters and Roberts saw that and had a go at the linesman for not taking any action. The more senior pro's have to look after the youngsters and it was good for team spirit.

Quite agree. If it's true, as I've heard, that Roberts is well liked by the other players, I'm not surprised. He certainly gives the impression of being very committed and caring. I like those qualities.

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
We were a row behind the dugout and could clearly see the whole incident from about 3 yards away.

It was a blatent atempt by McIlroy to 'assult' Harding, who was really frustrating their forwards and their fans in a big way.

I'm not saying more than that, as some of the reaction from our players was rather disapointing.
