Brighton 0-2 Plymouth

Brighton conceded a penalty and had a man sent off as their inauspicious start to The Championship continued.

Plymouth took the lead early on when Michael Kuipers could only parry Paul Wotton's cross and Danny Cullip turned it into his own net trying to clear.

Marino Keith tested Kuipers before Argyle doubled their lead, Daniel Harding being sent off for fouling Lee Hodges and Wotton scoring the penalty.

Brighton striker Maheta Molango worked hard to create chances but to no avail.

* Brighton boss Mark McGhee:
"We would like a win as soon as possible - but I'll not be fazed by it," said McGhee.

"I'm aware of the lack of personnel, and it's a challenge that I will relish.

"We've had to reshape the team, and I'll see what the players' reaction to this defeat will be when we play Coventry on Saturday."

* Plymouth manager Bobby Williamson:
"People have told me this is a perfect start. But that will only be the case if we get something at Cardiff on Friday," he said.

"We won't look at the league table at this stage. We'll come up against better teams but we will have to find ways of stifling them.

"If we put the same amount of effort into the forthcoming games we won't be far away."

I guess it's good that he seems to be staying kind of positive. I just can't see us getting anything against Coventry though.

Deja vu anyone

Lots of players injured, youth teamers struggling, losing out to fellow relegation rivals.....

I wonder if McGhee will get the same 10 games as Hinshelwood? :(

I doubt it as the club will not be able to afford the compensation to get rid of McGhee.

I don't think so. Last time we were just about to lose Zamora and this time we're just about to get Knight back. Also we've got some other players to come back. I think we'll be OK.

I caught the tail end of the SCR commentary last night and they were suggesting that Plymouth didn't even really try very hard in the second half.

We need to figure out how to break teams down, and quickly. If we were creating chances, and not taking them, I'd feel fine about it, but that is not happening!

scoffers in the second half we were 2-0 down with 10 men.....against 12 men (reff included) the game was over at half time. I thought our seond half performance was better then the first mind you that wasn't difficult
