Russell Slade has revealed Albion have done all they can to bring Gary Dicker back to Withdean.

The Albion manager is still optimistic of adding the Stockport County star to his midfield options for next season.

But he admits a possible two-year deal for the young Irishman is being delayed by off-field events at Edgeley Park.

Stockport are in administration with at least two groups reported to be looking to take the club over.

Slade has made no secret of the fact he wants to bring in Dicker on a more permanent basis.

Dicker has one year left on his Stockport contract but former chairman Dick Knight recently revealed Albion paid a loan fee when hiring him for the final nine games of last season The Seagulls could now bring him south for a bargain fee as Stockport look to cut costs.

Slade admitted: “It’s a waiting brief on that one for the moment.

“We’ve done what we can in terms of paperwork. It’s in the hands of the administrators at Stockport.

“There are so many variables because the club’s going to be sold but who will it be sold to and how long will they hang on until they release it?

”But we are still optimistic he will come here.”

Albion are one of a handful of clubs being linked with unsettled Hartlepool defender Micky Nelson, according to sources in the North East.

The 29-year-old Geordie, who joined Hartlepool from Bury in 2003, is out of contract this summer.

Former West Bromwich Albion favourite Tony Godden is likely to be confirmed as Albion’s new goalkeeping coach in the next few days.

Godden took over the role midway through last season and is due to complete formalities when he returns from holiday.
