Terrible disappointment - for a man who supposedly is in touch with the common fan and such a marketing guru, he came across as a bit of a rambling fool. "The day I met Bill Shankly" story went on and on, and wasn't all that interesting anyway. Not a word about the club today, although I was heartened to hear him be pleasant about Tony Bloom. Bet they were glad to get him out of the studio, and if the book itself is so rambling it won't be much fun.

Brighton, Sussex and all owe Dick Knight, Liam Brady, an undertaker called Harty, an accountant called Paul, The Gulls Eye lads, a socialist poet with a violin named Attilla, the rest of us fans a great debt and now of course Tony Bloom. Fans United, Signs on the motorway, York City, Liam Brady in the Park, walk outs against Darlington, fireworks, marches to the FA, and many many more things. Brighton Council love us now but I always say that you know your true friends in your hour of need. Brighton Council went missing when the Albion needed them most.

He should have said he'd slept with Bill Shankly. That would shift a few books, nevermind the shares offer.

We've all been there. Thinking we're telling the best story ever told...
