Its on another thread..

.. but Paul Reid is expected to sign his contract when he comes back from Australia.

A bid has been accepted for a striker, but Brighton are waiting to see whether the player wants to come.

Another striker is also being waited on.

Now we has Bas do we really need another striker ?

I think the midfield and defence need re-enforcing first.

Sounded as if a goalscoring striker and a right back were the main targets. No one will sign up until the end of June I guess.

I wouldnt think that we can afford to pay them for the month of June and will wait until the players report back for training.

I do not think that Baz fits the bill as the main man to take us up. He did ok but held the ball up too much to my way of thinking and I do not think that with the best will in the world he will score anything like 15 - 20 goals in a season.

definently - the midfield looks decent enough with hammond/reid in the middle, cox wide and hopefully frutos if he gets the chance

defensively, we have enough options apart from at right back, which whing could solve

up-front, we don't have a 20+ goalscorer which you need to get out of the league. sure, we could take a chance that that was bas coming good, or it could be a flash in the pan which he wont be able to repeat next season, leaving us struggling near the bottom again. not worth the risk if we have the chance to get in a proven goalscorer

we need an out and out striker. Bas to play as the target man that he is, as he is big and strong and can hold the ball up well layin it off to the striker to score. I know people hate him now, but, think of little leon and big iwelumo in the play off final season, it seemed to gel so well.

two strikers coming in would make it highly competitive for places. Imagine we'd have to ship out at least one of Revell, Elder, Robinson, Gatting.

We must have a 20 goal a season signing to go with Bas, if we wait until players report back then there will be nothing left worth going for, on Knights previous form that is no doubt what will happen

Frutos will never be a regular, we need at least one in defence, midfield and attack.

I can see Jake being played as a winger instead.

That was his attraction for me. Some of our other forwards couldn't hold the ball up enough, lost possession and put pressure back on the midfield and defence.
