..from the front of the Argus. I'm not typing it all, but the key paragraph says:

Mr Knight said "Steve knows we want him to stay. He has to make his decision quickly because clearly this impasse cannot go on for us or Reading. I am doing my level best to keep him here. I will always hold out hope until such time as Steve indicates otherwise"

So it's not being held up by Albion chasing compensation then. That's interesting. Come on Stevie - make your mind up time

We are talking The ArseGas though and if it's written by Naylor then I'll stick to nsc for breaking news for the time being.

This is from today's Argus, so in a way Dick Knight has made his position perfectly clear - make your mind up NOW Mr Coppell

Stop dreaming. he will be leaving us, if he was staying we'd have known a lot sooner than now.

I am completely lost over this delay. What the feck is going on !
At some point DK is gonna have to do something to back up his threat of not waiting more than a few days. And quite rightly too in my oppinion. This has dragged on far too long and we are building up now to a flippin game Saturday.

I was convinced that this morning there would be an announcement one way or the other.

excerpts from a conversation overheard( Allegedly)

DK: " have you made your mind up yet"
SC: " Well no, one of my many mistresses lives near Reading so its a bit close to home"
DK: " You used that excuse at Man City"
SC: " I know"
DK: " MAKE YOUR f***ing MIND UP YOU PALACE SCUM"
SC: " Ok then"

Too far from the sun
This is just a guess (though is probably more accurate than some of the so-called 'inside' knowledge on here):

1. Coppell deliberates over the weekend and says to DK and MadJetSki 'OK I'll go to Reading but only if you can agree compensation nicely, otherwise I'll stay put'

2. DK then says to MadJetSki 'OK we want a shedload of money for him - over to you sunshine'

3. Mad JetSki makes offer to DK which is refused. MadJetSki now has a choice to make - (a) up the compensation offer and get ripped off by Brighton, (b) say 'thats all we'll pay' and try and poach Coppell (unlikely given his 'moralist' stance), (c) Tell DK to stuff it and go after someone else - Adams, Dowie, Glenda, etc.

Let's face it the delay can only really be for good reasons - either Coppell is staying or DK is getting the absolute maximum in compo from the Mad One.

Yep, we're now into the second half of the week and, unless we have an announcement this afternoon, we're into that "pre-match build-up" period Coppell referred to last week, whereby he felt duty-bound to focus on the Albion's game on the Saturday.

Is this period of procrastination some sort of records? Coppell is like that Paul Whitehouse character in The Fast Show, the guy with two mates who always have opposing views and he can never speak his mind for fear of upsetting one of them.

Brighton, of course
Can't help but think anyway that the delay's about SC getting the best deal out of The Mad Hypocrite somehow, and not about any realistic chance of him staying with us. But hope to be proved wrong (I suppose)! But even if he did stay, how long would it be until another so-called "bigger" club caught his eye (Leyton Orient? Southwick?)?
