Although Atlético goalkeeper did well, he could not prevent a Blanquiazul goalfest. Fran opened the score after a combination with Juan Carlos Valerón. A couple of minutes later Atlético equalised though, from a Ibagaza free kick and Lequi headed the ball through between Molina's legs. After 35 minutes though Romero took advantage of bad defending by Aguilera and scored the second. After half time, Sergio scored a superb goal from distance, Burgos had no chance. A few minutes later it was Pandiani who was on target, assisted by Valerón. Scaloni finished the match off in injury time, having substituted Victor. 5-1.
