I had one done at a Worthing dentist when I lived in the UK, to replace one on the lower jaw right at the back that I had previously lost due to wisdom tooth issues. It was expensive but definitely worth it. 12 years later everything is fine and my mouth is in balance due to this. No more teeth lost in that time (I am aged 63 now) so pretty pleased with that. What with the generally high costs in the UK, has anyone considered using a dental implant clinic outside of the UK to get them done (Bulgaria, India etc)
Thanks in advance for any advice![]()
I was tempted but then had a couple done in Hove. My biggest fear was it going wrong down further down the track. Its hard to know what standards are being adhered to in other countries. If something goes badly wrong britosh dentists are unlikely to step in.What with the generally high costs in the UK, has anyone considered using a dental implant clinic outside of the UK to get them done (Bulgaria, India etc)

That could be what the guy I knew had done thinking about it!I know someone who went to Turkey for an implant and got talked into getting a full set of veneers which involved having her teeth filed down to stumps first.
She got back to Blighty, something went wrong with a veneer and her dentist refused to treat her. Beware.
This is what my dentist warned me about. It's not the uk dentist being mean. They refuse because they have no idea about the underlying quality of the work or materials. So won't touch it in case it gets worse and they get implicated in the failure and could become part of a malpractice.I know someone who went to Turkey for an implant and got talked into getting a full set of veneers which involved having her teeth filed down to stumps first.

My extraction took longer than any other part of the proceedure! The facial scan to make sure there was a bone in decent condition to drill into was “interesting”I have one and remember that it involved many visits including extraction, x-rays, implant base (involved a mallet), crown fitting. Ten year gaurantee I think. You may even need bone grafts if the tooth loss is due to disease. I wouldn't go abroad, I like my dentist to be just down the road. I also remember a 3D scan in another clinic. My dentist had a certificate of competence for the procedure.
Cataracts? NHS treatment with a decent optician is done very quickly and free!As an aside, the wife had eye surgery this week. Each eye had a lens put in it so she doesn’t have to wear contacts anymore. 30 mins each eye, 8k. As an hourly rate this is more than most EPL footballers.
Think I’ll try and come back in the next life as an eye surgeon.
Nope. Refractive eye surgery to “exchange” each lens.Cataracts? NHS treatment with a decent optician is done very quickly and free!
I have no idea what that even means!Nope. Refractive eye surgery to “exchange” each lens.
