Delaying release of away fans

It has finally happened and people have been affected in some numbers by the decision not to hold away fans at the final whistle. Does a delay of 15 minutes or more take the initial heat out of the situation. Does it not allow the police and stewards a period to get fans on to transport and away without confrontation.

If it's a solution for other clubs senior in league status to us for top category games, why not us for games against our bitterest of rivals?

Thanking the police and stewards publicly is all very well but most of the post match issues were preventable. What is the club's take on this please?
