I rate Him as someone already said his movement is top class but he has weaknessess just like Defoe.
Bent, again it will be interesting to see what he does this season - defenders seemed to work him out in the second half of the season.

Any of the above are better than Crouch to be honest.

Crouch is a great player if he's alongside someone with excellent movement. Not only is his height always a problem for defenders, but he uses the ball well with his feet and head. I think we'd see the best out of him alongside someone like Johnson (or Owen). Defoe offers nothing new except about 5 offsides per minute.

For me, he's on a par with Bent - both are way behind Crouch and Johnson, IMO.

Crouch is worth his place in the squad at the moment. Defoe actually setting a goal up is a rarity. Normally when playing for England he does not look up.

It shows how important a fit Owen is to England when you see Defoe play. Owen's goal every other game is something very few other players are getting near (other than Crouch).

Crouch knows what his strengths are and uses them well, Defoe seems to think he is world beater and does very little well for England.

I completely agree, you can get away with Defoe-type strikers in the premiership, but internationally you need players with more awareness and sense of team-play as they don't play with each other week-in, week-out. (well part from Ashley Cole and Jenas)

I am not sure why you think that.

He was not fit in June and then he did one of the ligaments in his knee. Yes this is a serious injury, however modern surgery should fix it. He has not had serious issues with his knee before, so in theory he should be OK.

Regarding losing pace, that is a risk with these injuries, however looking at other players it is generally after the second serious injury on the same leg that the pace tends to go (Gazza and Shearer) and Owen is still only 26.

Bent to me offers similar issues to Defeo and his movement can be poor, he relies on the ball over the top.

The other area to keep an eye on is how well Beattie and Johnson work together at Everton.

Well lets wait and see, but I do not see this injury finishing him and to be honest we still need him as we are short of strikers that score as conistently as him at that level.
