Crouch's scored 8 in 12!
Crouch is a great player if he's alongside someone with excellent movement. Not only is his height always a problem for defenders, but he uses the ball well with his feet and head. I think we'd see the best out of him alongside someone like Johnson (or Owen). Defoe offers nothing new except about 5 offsides per minute.Kinky Gerbils said:While Defoe has been up there in the past few seasons.
Lets see if AJ does it next year shall we?
I rate Him as someone already said his movement is top class but he has weaknessess just like Defoe.
Bent, again it will be interesting to see what he does this season - defenders seemed to work him out in the second half of the season.
Any of the above are better than Crouch to be honest.
For me, he's on a par with Bent - both are way behind Crouch and Johnson, IMO.Kinky Gerbils said:I dont disagree about Defoe - But to say he is much worse than the other replacements on offer is wrong.
Richie Morris said:What evidence is there to suggest Johnson is better then Defoe?
Ok, he notched a few in the Premiership but how many were penalties?

Uncle Buck said:Other than that game in Katowice, Defoe has done little to suggest he will cut it at this level. Last night was a rare occasion that he had some awarness of those around him. Crouch knows what his strengths are and uses them well, Defoe seems to think he is world beater and does very little well for England.

keaton said:I think even if Owen doesn't get fit
a partnership of one of Ashton or Crouch with Rooney, Bent, Johnson, Defoe, J Cole or Gerrard looks pretty good and would work well with the midfield
Silent Bob said:I think Owen's England career is done. He'll have been injured for the best part of two years when he comes back, I just can't see him being the same player. Hope to be proved wrong.
