J Defoe Match Stats
Shots: 1
On Target: Depends if he was aiming for a throw in.
Caught off side: 346

Why were the commentators saying how good he was, I'm sorry but to me he looked absolute pony.

His pass for Lampard's goal was one of the best bits of the game.

He's very ordinary - that's why he was only Martin Jol's third striker. And say what you like about Sven's dumb decision to take only 4 strikers, but we were never going to win the thing with Defoe in the side - I was never upset to see him left out.

He's a player along with Lennon and Carrick who's talent is over-rated by the press.
I'd much rather have started with Bent and have Johnson on the bench

I'd start Johnson ahead of Defoe and Bent - Johnson's movement is fantastic, and unlike most of the England side, at least he can take a penalty.

If Lennon, Defoe and Carrick are over rated what the hell is AJ and Bent?

For all Defoe's short comings he has been on form in pre season while Aj has not netted once.

Well Johnson and Bent have both almost topped the premierhsip scoring charts in the last couple of season while playing for a poor team , on their own up front. Defoe wasn't first choice at spurs last season and hasn't proved in a fair few England games to be worthwhile choice

We won one of our French pre-season matches 11-0, which clearly means our strikers are much better than Defoe. :jester:

While Defoe has been up there in the past few seasons.

Lets see if AJ does it next year shall we?
I rate Him as someone already said his movement is top class but he has weaknessess just like Defoe.
Bent, again it will be interesting to see what he does this season - defenders seemed to work him out in the second half of the season.

Any of the above are better than Crouch to be honest.

Yes but we all know Jake Robinson is being held back at Brighton and its only a matter of time before "The south coast Rooney" joins Wayne at Utd. :jester:

Ive just spoken to Dick Knight, and he said "Unfortunatley the cost of a CHEESE BAGEL at the moment is out of there monitory range", but if they do come down in price, he will consider it :p

Then muttered something about Withdean being to blame for failing to attract the Bagel.

Defoe's England record is something like 16 apps 1 goal

Crouch's scored 8 in 12!
