Defence has come into some right slating recently.
They have been looking very shaky but if you look at the reasons why that it is then it definitely looks curable.
1. We've been playing without any of our recognised full backs most of the season.
2. They haven't gelled - TEMPORARY Should improve.
3. They have no confidence - TEMPORARY Should improve.
Mcnulty is class - should only need a replacement if he continues to get injured.
Whing - inconsistent, but always gives 100% and has been very good for us.
Virgo - proven at championship level. Both for us and at colchester.
Elphick - player of the year 2 years ago.
Tunnicliffe - highly regarded at stockport, and still highly regarded by many on here.
Wright -
Undoubtedly getting Mcnulty and Whing back should help steady the ship, and also signing one more centre half might be a good idea. Jake Wright might be able to be that centre half or might not!
I don't feel that either the personnel need completely changing.
Hopefully Poyet will get the best out of them, and get their confidence back.
