Just after a recommendation for a decent (read cheap) timber merchant in the Brighton/Eastbourne area. I'm in Seaford and use Timber Requirements, but I'm not convinced they're particularly decent or cheap. I only buy smallish quantities for various DIY projects, so won't qualify for any bulk discounts. Thanks in advance!

I like Beechwood Timber for sheet materials/ shelves down behind the Blue Lagoon pub in Portslade (West Hove if you're an estate agent).

As you're asking Brighton Lewis area Wenban Smith in Lewes is probably more convenient, haven't used them for a while but I know many tradesmen who do.

Alternatively Alsford Timber in Eastbourne are reliable

Price wise not a lot in it but phone a couple of the above and you won't be going far wrong

There's a recycled timber yard behind Hectors House (or whatever it's called this week) - but I haven't had much luck getting stuff I need from them

don't buy timber from Wickes without thoroughly inspecting it. In fact probably don't even consider Wickes

That's great. Thanks very much! I've used the place on circus street a few times, but I've had more joy finding random bits and bobs (hardwood etc) than when I've got more specific requirements. Goes with the territory I guess. Assuming they'll deal with non-trade, I'll definitely give wenban smith and the other place a go, and I too avoid buying any timber from Wickes or b&q. Thanks again.
