Great effort tonight but does anyone else get nervous about James.
He came for a couple of crosses with all the conviction of someone of 4ft 5in not 6ft 5in.

My Mrs gave me a ticking off for calling him a f**king dickhead during the game. Then she says is that why my boss (a West Ham fan) calls him a donkey

I'm behind you!
At times he needs Brian Horton and Steve Foster to shout at him to perform. Most of the ninety minutes tonight his goalkeeping was as sensible as his new haircut.

Our fantastic performance tonight has conveniently clouded over James' performance tonight, which is lucky for him as he was frankly shocking. I really don't know what the answer is to the goalkeeper problem though.

I grew up through the eras which contained Banks, Clemence and Shilton, so it pains me to see the keepers of the last 10 years or so. I always thought Seaman was only average.

I didnt think he did badly, the two times he dropped the ball, he was impeded, should have been free kicks

Tonight WAS just like watching Brazil...i.e. great outfielders, shite keeper.

A proper keeper would'nt get impeded he'd just go through and get the ball.

Ah of course, wave his magic wand and the oppo would just miraculously move out the way, gotcha :lolol:

the worrying one was where he came for a punch and too many players were in the way. rather than think better of it and reposition, he flapped at it, then pawed it weakly away. that miscalculation will pick up on by coaches and they will try to exploit it.

I crap myself every time a cross comes in when James plays for England! Then again - as Mr Christ said earlier - who else we got who instills real confidence at the mo?

Great effort? Yes he does make me nervous. He can't be the best in the country.

We need to find another keeper before WC2010. David James didn't have much to do tonight, but what he did he did badly.

David James is about 6ft 5in and built like a brick shithouse and supposedly Englands best keeper, So why the f*** does he have to prance around doing an impersonation of sugar plum fairy looking for free kicks? He should'nt need a magic wand to control his penalty area his size and skill should be enough.

What James does have that is absolutely key is confidence. Even after a major f***-up he can get his act back together. There's nothing a back 4 hates more than a keeper they feel lacks confidence because you never know what they'll do. Robinson is finished, he's shot.
