When I saw him pre-season he looked overweight and very unfit (Colchester turned him down for his fitness?)

MM gives him an opportunity to show everyone what he can do.. and you know the rest.

Currie should thank MM and Brighton - we've effectively saved his career.

Good luck to him - seemed a really nice bloke on the march. Lets pray that a "guarenteed fee" meant "at least" and there a few more quid if Ipswich go up.

That's exactly what he did do on the radio 5 interview.

I wouldn't say saved his career as there were plenty of teams after him.

But I think we have given him the platform to show he can perform at this level and now he will get his chance in The Premiership.

I just released why he never mentioned the play off final :dunce: :lolol:

Wasn't a pity Doug, we got what we deserved, we were awful, worst performance of the season aganist one of the worst teams.

We don't stand a chance playing big boot football up to two 3"2 strikers.

Anyway Cardiff and Forest both lost today so doesn't look like your losing ground on your rivals.

Sounds familiar.

Yes, sorry I phrased that badly. The point I was making was that I would have expected him to do so.

MM really put his whole career back on track and turn him around into a £250,000 player.

It gets worse, we have a 6"7 defender who is our top scorer (maybe second now). If only we put him up front for a few games like you did with Virgo (you did do this didn't you and I've not just made a prick of myself like i just did with Currie! :dunce: )

When we bought him ? I didn't know that.

All I know is he was training with Colchester and released for his lack of fitness - then he came to us.

I'm really happy for him and very sad to him go.

I don't think there were 'plenty' of teams after him and I believe that Adams told him he would never make a league footballer.

He had only ever played in the lower two leagues until we got him.

There were plenty of teams after him which is why he he was not happy with the original deal we offered him.

The other teams - presumably in league one and two - were offering a longer contract.

The first time I saw Darren play against us, I thought there is a player that we should sign. Although that must have been nearly six years ago now, I enjoyed it while it lasted. But don't forget he was the worst player on the pitch last Saturday.

You've said that twice. Who apart from Colchester offered him a contract? Not trying to argue but asking.

I cannot remember but I don't think any teams were named.

I suppose it could have been his agent trying to get him a better deal, but I imagine a decent free agent like that would have no difficulty in finding a new club.

I would have hardly thought he had a glowing CV as one of his previous directors told us he was a "waste of space" on the train back from Sunderland.

He was a decent player in the basement divisions.

He was a very good player, but life goes on without Darren Currie.. it has to! Anyway, if we had more luck today, we would have got something out of the game. Towards the end of his time with us, he wasn't playing brilliantly but I will definately miss him

The second half today was encouraging and with a bit of luck we could have nicked an equaliser, but the first 45 minutes was absolutely dour and showed the reality of playing without any footballers (Currie and Knight) in the team, but 11 labourers instead.

Good luck to Darren Currie, anyone who understands football can see that he is class act, hopefully he will get a chance at the highest level.
