What a disgrace. I listen when I am up that way, and when I'm not I listen through the website. The ONLY programme worth listening to on 94.9

I love it that he gave them waht for on his last show. Berating the middle managers who failed to tell him direct about having "More meeting rooms than studios"

They haven't got a fcuking scoobies

Just listening to that, while reading it!

I used to love Danny Baker - but it does sound a bit stale these days, like he is going through the motions. I am not sure there is anyone better mind.

they will keep Eddie Nestor and all the other fuckwits on no doubt. DB and your Elms are diamonds in the dirt, otherwise BBC London is just a crock of total shit since Lofty from Eastenders stopped doing the football.

I listen to Danny Baker then flick over to Eddie Mair on R4 for drive home. Axing Danny Baker will lose BBC 94.9 about a quarter of their regular listeners. Totally agree about Elms too. Vanessa f***ing Feltz? "let's talk about the headline in the Daily Mail" every f***ing day...Eddie Nestors snorefest...great move Beeb. Heve to listen to R5 live now I suppose.

As an aside here is Mr Baker at his Halloween party with his daughter Bonnie. Yowsers.

BBC News - Danny Baker hits out after BBC axe radio show

I don't listen, not being a Londoner, but assuming it's only half as good as his Saturday morning slot, shame on you BBC.

I listen online, or occasionaly if the DAB signal is coming through. It's easily as good as the Saturday show, of course it isn't sports orientated, and not so 'London' that would stop you listening. He once had me on there reciting the lyrics to Motorheads self titled song in the style of a catholic priest!

That's a shame, not listened to the daily show but love both his Saturday R5 show and his Twitter feed (and he has the best stock music tracks too).

I used to think he was a dick and then for some reason started following him on twitter and came to realise that he's a genuinely very funny bloke.

Has anyone picked up/read his autobiography yet? Intending to get it. Had a look through in shops today. It's disappointingly thin, so I checked what the end point was and it looks like it's very much designed to leave plenty of material for a follow up. That said, Baker has got amazing anecdotes coming out of his ears and I'll probably never tire of listening to them.

A true legend (as long as you ignore the strange 90s bit when he was seen hanging round with Gazza and Chris Evans).

Yeah it's basically "part 1", he's said it himself.

Starts slowly but once you get over the fact that he plainly worships his Dad, there's loads of really good little tales.

Anyone remember on 5 Live where the bloke rang up to talk about home-made football memorabilia? His dad had made him a six-foot plywood bow-tie on a pole. I'm sure it must be available online somewhere. I've never heard anything funnier on the radio - the story just got weirder and weirder. Had to have a lie down to rest my aching sides afterwards. His recent 5 Live programme was a good listen. My kids enjoy the Sausage Sandwich game, as do I.
