There is sooo much good dance music out there that never gets heard ny the commercial public, which is a good thing as once the big labels get hold of something they usually do their level best at trying to turn it shit so that kids will enjoy it and but singles.

There are so many types of Dance genre, that I defy anyone to hand on heart say they dont like any of it. Even people who like certain types of dance music hate others, ie, I hate Euro Trance such as youd hear Dave Pearce or Judge Jules play, but adore other types, such as Breakbeat, DnB, tech/Deep/funky House and a whole host of downtempo stuff.

I say that I dislike Heavy Metal but I know that if I really listened to a wide spectrum of it there would be stuff Id like.

Well I'm a dance bod all over really. Still got all my Oasis, Embrace, Stone Roses etc, and more importantly a Motown and Soul collection, but dance music is something I listen to all day.

It follows other CDs on well too. I play my Stevie Wonder stuff, and then a Disco House CD, and it just follows on. They don't sound anything like each other, its just so accessible.

Beach House - lounge bars on the Sunset Strip in Ibiza (unbeatable), and driving in the summer. And obviously listening to on the beach.

Disco House - getting ready to go out, dancing while out (never pissed, always drink water), sitting in the back garden in the summer with the patio doors open and stereo on inside.

US House - Miami scene stuff, a bit more full on and for the clubs only really. Can't listen to much of it at home.

Deep House - less vocals, more soul and generally "deep" tones in the tunes, often slower. Good for clubs in the latter hours nearer 6am, and sometimes at the very beginning of the night.

Funky House - not that different from disco house really, just a bit more bass and bass riffs (not that difficult to grasp, surely?! Same with bass guitars in certain tunes).

Trance - monging out stuff about 5 years ago. Used to be alright to go mental to, but apart from that it wasn't listenable most times of the day.

Techno - loud and pumping German shit. Avoid.

Garage - urgh. No tunes, no soul.

Electro/ Tech-pop - Quality stuff... get the Ministry of Sound This is Tech-pop album. Genius, and not even that new. Mental lyrics with sweet tunes...

Drum and Bass - far better than garage. At least there's a proper groove. Still can't be listened to all the time though.

It all goes back to the likes of funk and disco in the 70s, which IMO were superb and brought forward the Motown and Philadephia/Atlantic/even Northern Soul eras into the quality house music we have nowadays.

Forget the poppy dance crap, house music is the way forward! Anyone who likes soul music or disco in general should get into decent house music like the albums on the Hed Kandi label. I even convinced my 41 year old Mum into liking the stuff!

Can't claim to be a Dance fan, but I'm probably put off by the whole club scene. However, I have fairly eclectic tastes so you will find stuff Underworld, Spring Heel Jack, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Photek, and DJ Shadow in my CD rack. And I'm comfortable for it to be there next to stuff like The Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, The Stone Roses, Pusherman, Vex Red, and John Coltrane. It's all a matter of mood really, and sometimes dance is just the thing.
