Do we actually know that Cardiff and Everton were watching him?

I know Lennie Lawrence said they were monitoring him.

Is it not normal to watch Division One games, especially as there are U21 players playing.

Just think of the amount of people that watched Zamora compared to the amount of bids we received for him.

hes a good young player there is no doubt about that.
Teams will always be interested in players like that, escpecially left sided ones.
It would be great if we can keep Dan but if not, lets just make sure we get a good fee and a nice sell on clause.

Look mate, I'm not slagging him off, I'm not even criticising him, I'm just saying that I was surprised to see he is in the under 21-s. He is a reasonable player, improving all the time, and is certainly no worse than anyone else in that position. If I was saying he was shite and shouldn't be playing for the club then it would be fair enough to have a go, but I'm not saying that. If Dan's parents are on here and are, as you say, true seagulls fans, then they will understand that people will have different opinions. If you actually bothered to read the original post, I said, "am I missing something?" If I knew as much about the game and young players as Peter Taylor and the England setup do, I would be working for them, not sitting in front of my computer at my boring job wouldn't I? I thought this was supposed to be a discussion forum, I didn't realise it was censored in case I offend the lad's parents (which I am sure I haven't.) Thank you.

I don't know Jones' parents; only that his mum wouldn't go to the play off final as it was on a Sunday!

I am sure it is part and parcel of being a friend or relative of a professional footballer, especially one at Evertons level, that criticism, justified or not, will be aimed at the player - particularly on message boards such as this.

That said, other than a few dodgy games at the start of the season, I don't think Dan Harding has done anything to warrant this level of criticism. But this is a message board for people's opinions.

I am sure the moaners would still be moaning if Harding was playing in the Premiership and we had Mayo, or someone worse, playing at left back for us.

Hate to tell you but Dan's Dad is a Wolves fan and Dan himself supports Leeds!

Anyway, I've said many tiimes that Dan is only 20 and is doing a good job - the red card was NOT his fault but some great diving!

Adam Hinshelwood is better. And Adam Virgo is more versatile.

But it does not mean that Danny Harding is not a good left back in the unexciting Kenny Samsom mould.

He's had a few bad games, and a lot of good ones.

This is one of those situations where I'm prepared to accept that people who've played the game professionally see more in certain players than we do as fans.

If he wasn't exceptional, he wouldn't be in the under 21s. The difference in performance may have a lot to do with having better players around him with England - full-backs always suffer if they're left exposed, and he doesn't always have a lot of midfield protection playing for us.

We see the occasional mistakes. They, presumably, see good technique, temperamant and long term potential. Hope we keep him.

I think a lot of Harding's mistakes can be put down to nerves.Playing for England can only help him overcome them.
