Does autocorrect really substitue profanities in place of spelling errors?

Lived in a place called Port Erin once, spellcheck changed it to Port Urine on my university thesis. How did spellcheck know the place so well ?

As AT&T is American I’d be amazed if it did - looks like a scam. Every vaguely naughty word is bleeped out on the main US networks and any naughty bits are always pixellated.

A mate of mine got in a bit of trouble with his missus years back.

His missus has a sister called Heather and she is quite a big girl so to say. He sent his missus a text asking if she was out with Heather, unfortunately on the old Nokia predictive text Heather comes out as Heavier! Needless to say his missus wasn't overly impressed.

Predictive text once made me send a text to Mrs P asking if she would like a bottle of wind to go with dinner.

Actually, it's funny which words they bleep in the US. "Bastard" usually isn't bleeped out, but "Bitch" always is.

My favourite funny on predictive text is when you try to text pardew, see what the first word is that appears on screen :lolol:

I once text Danny Seagulls mum asking if she had "seen fanny today", luckily I realised the mistake as the message was sending so I think (and prey) I managed to cancel it in time!

I was too shy to ask her and she hasn't ever mentioned it, so I think I managed to avoid a potential embarrassment.

There was an article in one of the broadsheets as to whether 'text' or 'texting' was the correct term. I can't remember the outcome.

Predictive texting can be amusing/embarrassing to those concerned, but reading some faux rubbish is not.

They rank up there with 'lad banter'. The most cringeworthy website I have ever come across. True Lad- True Lad - The home of LAD Banter

Nothing on my iPhone :( What does yours come up with?

It's always been a source of puerile amusement to me that if you type "cock" on most phones, they suggest "anal" as an alternative :lolol:
