[Help] CV and job hunting advice

I am parting company with my current employer at the end of the month. Currently working M - F 20 hours and best describe my skill set as "general clerical / financial.

Have logged on to several job search sites and am receiving numerous "hits". Can anyone suggest the best job search sites, also sites for cv templates.

I did some call centre a while back and note there are numerous working from home type jobs in this field. Any of you have experience of this type of work? Not keen on selling type work.

Thanks!

Get yourself on Linkedin if you aren't already then contact any former colleagues you enjoyed working for or with and who work for companies you would like to be with.

I was made redundant nearly 11 years ago after 20+ years in a declining organisation and industry. I decided at that point with 25+ years until retirement to get into an industry with the potential to grow over that timeframe. Then, I identified energy, food and medical devices and bagged a good job and have gone from strength to strength in that time.

Good luck, there are plenty of opportunities out there if you want them.

Why are you only working 20 hours? Is that their decision or your choice?

Unless it is 20 hours/day!!

Was thinking the very same, judging by the traffic round Brighton these days post rush hour and the number of 30 -40 somethings in supermarkets during what I’d call a normal working day I’d say there are many choosing to work 20 hs 😂

I blame Sunak and his cronies giving out free money during the Covid era

Forget job sites for 80% of roles unless you have specific skills required, such as a power engineer specialising in nuclear submarines, the job site ads receives hundreds , even thousands, of applications for each job.

Separate yourself, saving time, by contacting companies direct speculatively and use linked in.

Hope this helps!
