Currys World Cup Deal

Currys are offering a deal of £10 cash back for every England goal scored during the world cup for any telly over £599. I fancied this given that we seem to have no problem putting 3-4 past weaker teams. Does anyone know if the tellies they're offering are actually decently priced, or has the price been kept high to offset this deal?

I'm looking to spend about £600 and wanted a 40" LCD, but have no idea whether or not I'd be getting something a bit rubbish at this price??? All advice appreciated!

I heard Littlewoods are giving everyone their money back over a short time if England win it.

Toshiba are also offering money back if England win. This is interesting as Currys are offering a 40" Toshiba for £599, so it qualifies for their £10 goal promo. That would mean that if England were to win the world cup, you'd not only get your £599 back from Toshiba but also somewhere in the region of £150 from Currys, they'd be paying you to have this telly!

Whatever they are offering, compare on line, as even with that gimmick they are likely to be a lot more expensive than some reputable online dealers-Hughes Direct for example.

I am sure there would be the "cannot be used with any other offer" somewhere in the wording!

Currys are pretty good on price... and you can get them down on price via their price promise, I did recently when I bought an LCD HD TV - but they won't match online sites, but they'll match anyone locally. Compare with Tescos (either Durrington or Shoreham), Comet and others. You should get a good deal this way, and probably a minimum of £70 back after WC.

Samsung LEDs seem to be the best, in terms of value and performance. I plumped for the Samsung. Decide what you want and then shop around. This is a good deal fro 40 inch:

What does this actually tell you? It tells you that they have no faith in England whatsoever winning the World Cup. They are in business to make money, not give you money.

If I where you I would check the small print on all these type of deals. I'm sorry but I just cant see someone like Currys giving anyone money back. Sorry to be so sceptical.

Also, don't get sucked into buying 200Mhz; I understand the human eye cannot tell the difference between 100Mhz and 200Mhz.

I recently purchased the Samsung UE40B7000 and I must say it is superb. Hooked up to the internet (albeit a restricted service), superb picture, connects to my PC, plays ALL movie formats straight from a USB device (memory stick or removable drive) and generally looks beautiful!

Nothing to do with the offer, just wanted to tell someone.

Haven't looked too much into the Toshiba offer, but the Currys offer seems fairly straightforward, the only catch being that you have to register your purchase within 3 days and they send you the cash after the WC.

Memory is a little bit hazy, but I was thinking about previous form and England have scored 6-7 goals in each world cup that I can remember (since 1986). I just have a feeling they're going to get a few this time judging by the qualification ad also having seen Algeria's dodgy defending against Ireland last night!

Got the 6000, and it's quality too. No internet service, but didn't want to pay the extra £100 for that, as I don't need it.

That sainsbury's price sounds like a bargain for a 40". With the added bonus being that if I bought that using my nectar credit credit card I'd get 1600 nectar points!

No :(

Restricted to some Yahoo newsfeeds- weather info- a few games and Youtube is available. They keep adding more so hopefully you will be able to get the whole lot eventually.

Really fancy an LED telly now, they look so cool and thin! This decision for buying my world cup telly is harder than deciding which house to buy!
