The FA Cup being played before the end of the season is utter crap. But everyone knows that. It's purely because the Champions League Final is at Wembley and UEFA have strict conditions about 'taking possession' of the venue a set time in advance. Which is why we have to wait another week too if we make it. It'll return to the end of the season in future and I think it's pretty hard to turn down CL Finals. Plus someone's got to pay for all those massive loudspeakers to obliterate the atmosphere

As the news was leaked and the press had strong rumours that Fergie was retiring, Man Utd had to make an announcement to stop stock market uncertainty. Whether the 'leak' was made on purpose at this time is another debate but once it was out there Man Utd had too make an announcement.
