As for it being racist, I'd best most / all, gypsies of the traveler community are of the Irish nationality and of Catholic religion. So calling them pikeys is not much different to calling a car mechanic a grease monkey - just a slightly derogatory term to describe their way of life.
Anyway, I really like the song: "The wheels on your house go round and round, round and round, round and round".
