I thought that I read somewhere that they were considering selling combined rail / entrance tickets and also tickets on the day at the shop but nothing at Falmer itself.

You may well be right but this will not be as effective as pay on the gate.

It will still require an effort to get a ticket something that has been a real issue with getting anyone to a BHAFC home game - as in the fact a lot of games do not sell out but tickets are just a call away.

I think they need to reduce ticket prices and make them easier to obtain, not just through the club shop. The price issue has got to be the main point though.

I am sure that you know people, as I do, who winge and moan at me that they cant get to see Brighton because they can't geta ticket and you ask them Have you phoned the ticket office to which they reply ' well no its always sold out as we can't get many in Withdean'.

You will never win with those people.

We are average for a CCC club. There are only one or two that charge less than us.

Lot depends on price and which division we are in.

There will be the initial interest of a new stadium for both home and away fans. If the prices are sensible we will average over 12,000.

If, however, the prices are anything like the prices being quoted at Arsenal's new stadium........

I think the Youth Cup game the other week showed the interest for paying on the gate (or at the station as I believe it will be at Falmer).

The roof will be a big selling point as well. Also the away end will sell out five or sis times a season.

We'll easily get over 12,000 if we are in this division. Look at Hull, Reading, and Swansea as great examples of what a decent stadium can do to attendance.

People do not want to go to Withdean becasue the facilities are dire, in a top quality ground supporters will come flocking.

Brighton are and always will be a bandwagon club. If we were in Reading's postion at the moment we would be playing to sell outs and if we had the capacity it would be nearer 30,000.

Thats a VERY good point, and it pretty much sums it up.

It really does hinge on where we are in the divisions, if we are up there challenging for the premiership then I reckon we would pretty much sell out every game, if we are in the positiopn we are at now, it would be 10k-12k.

The massive downside would be if we are in League 1, where I really cant see crowds being anymore than what we get now (certainly after the 'new stadium' novelty wares off) we have to face facts that kids and the casual supporter really want more than Yeovil or Blackpool on a Tuesday night, thats just a result of the way press and TV brainwashes us to believe football revolves around the premiership.

A key for me will be to try and make it as easy as possible to buy seats for games, especially outside of Brighton. One area where we have always been poor in my opinion is in marketing the club as the team of Sussex rather than just Brighton. Although, a fair percentage of our support still comes from around the county, I think that this is an area where we have lost a lot of our support over the years, especially from the Eastbourne/Hastings area and Burgess Hill/Hayward Heath areas where support has noticeably dwindled...

And you can carry that on into the southern parts of Kent who have little or no connection with Gillingham and who are now exposed to Brighton highlights since Meridian got it's act together.
I'm still sticking with my 'sell-out every week for years' theory.
