There are houses behind it

No, theres a core, cannot-be-closed railway line directly behind it. Theres enough space to match the heights if the Sligo line wasn't there.

Been in it many times, not there today though - obviously.

Hill 16 is hallowed ground as far as the dubs are concerned although while the rugby is being played there it has been renamed The Northern End.

Isn't there another railway line down by the Royal Canal that also banches out into the Sligo line?

I was in Croke Park last year to see Bon Jovi :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

If you were watching there now you'd have seen the train running behind the Hill/Nally.

The camera that shot was from looked like it was on the top of the apartment block I live in.

'ove actually
And read Wikipedia

Although the stadium has completed all four phases, there is speculation that future development will include a roof for the stadium. The Hill 16 end is unlikely to be developed further in the near future with a second upper tier (in line with the other 3 sides) due to the proximity of the railway line and the fact that there are houses immediately behind the raised wall on which the rail line runs meaning the GAA would have to buy a street of houses to expand Hill 16 to anything more than a terrace.

The line under the other end was closed from 1997 until about three months ago, so they were able to build over it,

John Boy - Wikipedia is unreliable :jester:

The houses are a good 30 metres further away. They could do a Millennium Stadium jobbie on it and get the roofline right but keep the Hill lower, if they were allowed build over the train line, but they won't be. They can't run trains from the west through the city if they use the other line, would be economic suicide for the train company and cause serious traffic problems, etc, etc. AND the line is older than the stadium :p
