You never know. Granted, there are not always local crimes on the programme and very unlikely to have witnessed anything relevant, but I see it as a civic duty.

But wouldn't you already know if you'd witnessed a local crime? Either you'd know at the time that a crime was in progress, or read/hear about it in the local media, and realise you'd seen something relevant?

Some of the cases are so old, I genuinely can't see how they prompt any new information (unless witnesses were deliberately witholding it, and change their minds).

I was in a bank when it was held up and didn't notice a thing.

I was too busy concentrating on my gun pointing at the cashiers face.
