Crewe by train - nightmare

Anybody else going by rail to Crewe? I see the line is closed out of Euston and we have to go all round the houses. May think about driving now. Anybody know of the quickest way to get there? The National rail site reckons going via St Pancras and Leicester but surely there is a quicker way than that?

You're joking, have you been to the Borough Arms? One of the best pubs in the country. Makes all the other things about Crewe pale into insignificance.

Except this year I am driving because of the sodding trains :angry:

Like stated before, the quickest train is via derby and st pancras, or like me you could forget to check for quicker routes and go via gatwick, reading and wolves, making it about a 5 nd a half hour trip each way

Is there still that direct train from Brighton in the morning via Wolves? That could be an option....

couldnt see anything, the quickest train from brighton to wolves takes four and a half hours plus a further 40mins to crewe. Iv booked and recieved tickets anyway so its too late if there is.
On saturday i went to luton though, and it was cheaper to buy tickets on the day £17 for adult and child with network and family railcard, than buy them a week in advance at £23. Is that right or did she make a mistake, surely its cheaper to prebook

Ive found a good way - its a bit tight but should be less hassle. The 9:31 from Brighton direct to Birmingham New Street and then pick up the 13:21 from Birmingham New Street to Crewe arriving at 14:23. As im out on the pi55 Friday night, I wont be in any fit state to negotiate London on Saturday morning!

Come on you Seagulls!

In London village.
How is a journey meant to excite you?

Come now, I'm sure some on here are positively tumescent at the sight of a well oiled locomotive.
