No way. The cop did exactly the right thing - this was not on a par with the Rodney King beating (even if King WAS a constant offender who the justice system couldn't get anywhere with). The assumption that this was a suddenly-subdued and surrendered perp, could get a cop into big trouble - it may be a way to put the cop off his guard so the thug can damage him.
Do you think that a gang-member who has just endangered lives, required police time and attention inc helicopters and squadcars all across the city put into a pursuit alert - should just be able to simply say "okay, got me, game over just put me among my buds in the big-house and I'll see you clowns in a few months to do more shit to more unsuspecting innocents"?

These people want to rule the streets - they already claim to, in boasts to rivals and pals alike. They have to be taken down, and have the will kicked out of them. No doubt this punk has already caused more grief than you can imagine, to people who don't deserve it. He may have already taken lives - or some of his homeys have for sure, and it's usually a child caught in crossfire, or a youngster hit by a stray slug.

Those people who don't think he deserved at LEAST a stunning head-kick need to become victims of that sort of relentless unemotional filth.
Then they'll look at that a little differently, won't they.

Nut in a shell.

Wankers, both of you.

I lived in Los Angeles, and it is nothing like your simple-minded outlook on how things ought to be. The gang warfare in THAT AREA (which I am familiar with and you know shit about except your dreamworld 'in the movies'), is beyond any care about life. Cowboys and Indians in the Wild West surely had much better respect for life.

"okay mr policeman I give up" is not a part of a GAME like when you kiddiewinkies played best-man-fall, it can be the last thing the cop hears before he is shot in the head and leaves behind a mourning wife and children. IT AIN'T A GAME, and all this righteous shite from  types all curling their lower lip in outrage is just mamby-pamby pinko crap.

IF cops want to beat the crud out of anyone, they can take them back to the holding cells and do all kinds of nasties - and they yet might. The nasty and singular blow to the head from an upright position of relative safety for the cop, was done for more reason than to administer a lesson.

But you girls think he ought to act nice. Riiight! :tosser:

The guy had clearly surrendered so there was no need, plus as a pillar in society he should set an example to all aspiring youngsters and not take the law into his own hands and just because he thinks he can get away with it, punt someone in the head.

The temptation to land a kidney punch of whatever when adrenaline is coursing and they've been engaged in a long and dangerous chase and have finally brought some idiot to the floor must be very hard to resist. I'm not saying it's right, but I'm not saying it's wrong either ;)

So you would allow the police to use some brutality or rough them up a bit on suspects who haven't even been tried in a court of law?
So a quick kick to the head with heavy boots on is ok? You allow that then you are leaving the door open for more serious beatings or risk of death.
Why do the states still continue to allow people have guns? All this bollocks about call to arms is shit.Get the guns of the street for a start might help.
Why don't the American government give a time frame for all guns to be handed in like we did with knives? If you fail to hand in your gun then it's a mandatory 10 year jail term.

Worthing
funnily enough i'm actually more interested in the fact that incident stopped the journalist in his tracks... he doesn't know what to say and makes up some crap about a kick to the shoulder before going very quiet.

the most newsworthy aspect of the whole incident and the journo went quiet!!!!

i think this actually highlights more about what is wrong with american tv journalism than it does about the policing element, as frankly i am in no position to comment on what adrenalin and feeling of personal threat would make a person do in the same position.... but nonetheless he kicked the guy straight in the head, on live tv, and the journalist didn't know what to say!

Cannot possibly be worse than our GLORIOUS Great British handling of a terrorist suspect, can it now?

American is irrelevant, and people who go on about my being a steward every time I express an opinion they don't like much are just completely thick.

You people who think they'd get an easy ride from the ob if they acted like that gangbanger in the UK - !
Tell us more jokes about how reasonable the 'bobbies' are in the face of any pressure, :lolol: (clue;- recent demonstrations in London ring any bells with you clowns?)
