Steve Duly, the Crawley MD was just on Talksport discussing the game against Weymouth. In the interview he mentioned Brightons National Falmer Day, the 100+ Brighton fans at the game and how Crawley support Brightons cause in getting the message across to John Prescott that you need a new ground.

All friends together. Ah, bless.

Yep. Well it will be a community stadium and should benefit the community at large. Sussex deserves a proper stadium.

And good luck to Crawley - hope they go up and become a league club as soon as possible. If noddy counties like Northamptonshire can support 2 league clubs, we certainly can.

That's all well and good now, it would have been nice if they had let us play there when we didn't have Withdean instead of giving it to Palace Reserves and making us go to Gillingham....!!!

Oh dear not again. It was not the club who said you couldn't play there, the decision was the councils. Do a search of NSC and you'll find it's been discussed plenty before so won't bother repeating it all.

And as for Palace Reserves, I can only recall them playing there once and they hired the ground direct from the council for the game, played in the afternoon during the week with not many people there watching. Can't see where that fits your arguement there, sorry.

Quite right, Crawley Boy.

Although I suspect that, by the time the decision was taken, Archer actually wanted us out of Sussex and that Gillingham suited his purpose.

I was actually with Bellotti (at a local government conference in Eastbourne) on the day that Archer concluded the deal with Scally. He summoned Bellotti up to a meeting in Birmingham to settle the details and Bellotti got me to order him a taxi to Eastbourne Station.

Why didn't you send him to Lands end or something? :salute:
