Anyone been to the Bull in Ditchling recently? what's it like?

there is a link between a country pubs closeness to brighton and its stuck up rural arseyness, in my opinion. the closure you get the more snobby they get. look at the f***ing swan as the classic example. technically in brighton and on a f***ing dual carriageway, but you would think (and this has been going on years long before the stadium business) that you had to be a 10th generation local to deserve to drink in there.

the juggs is another pet hate of mine, in that vein. the shepherd and dog is just unbearable, especially since the influx of Nu Brightonians who are discovering all this for the first time and citing it to their pals in putney as yet another reason they moved down to brighton zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Good point. Plus, with the proximity comes the crowd every weekend, and they then feed the snobbyness in self-prophetic turn.
It's far better to head out further, and even find your own fave hideaway in the sticks. Chances are the food will be better, cheaper, and you can pick a nice table and relax.
It's like summer holidays - why would you pick a Spanish resort chock-a-block with English yobbos :wanker: comparing muscle-shirts and English-bulldog/United-devil tats, looking for English bitter and a football rivalry on your time off? Same with pubs - don't bother joining the herd in a noisy garden :bla: surrounded by typicals, and cop attitude when you are trying to park  or get a table? :wrong:
