Kidderminster Harriers have snapped up Dean Sturridge after the striker was released by Queens Park Rangers last term.

The Conference side managed to pull off something of a transfer coup by snaring the 32-year-old on a one-year contract.

After spells with Leicester City, Derby County and Wolves, Sturridge will be keen to get amongst the goals for his latest Midlands club.

Kidderminster will be delighted with the signing after purchasing defender Mark Creighton last week

As long as we are in with a chance of signing GNW, I doubt we'll sign any more geriatric strikers. Could end up with nobody again of course and then wonder why we didn't sign someone like Sturridge.

More to the point, what has Dean Sturridge done in the last 2/3 seasons, hence the reason why he has signed for Kidderminster Harriers....!

to be honest, we have still got to look at the travel and living factor. He is a midlands boy and will stick up there

People are not going to come here for shit wages if they have to up sticks and move down here. We cant get nurses or "key " workers down here as the price of property is so hight, to attract mediocre footballers is nigh on impossible.

I seem to recall that was one of the reasons Bamber had the Chartwell houses built at the top end of Hove Park

I think if he was worth buying someone above conference level would probably have had him.

Mike Bamber said the same about Paul Stewart when Alan Mullery tried to buy him from Blackpool for £70k. MB said he couldnt be any good because Man U, Liverpool and Everton hadnt gone after him. So refused to sanction the transfer. 6 months later Malcolm Allison paid £900k to take him to Man City.

You my recall that the original Peter Taylor as per Cloughie wanted the club to buy the houses that overlooked the Goldstone to lend the players whilst at the club but the residents wanted stupid amounts of money, to compensate the free view that they had of each game.

Before my time so cant remember much abou that, but at 32 and awful for the last 2 season I doubt that will be happening with Sturridge,

What is it with Albion chairmen trying to do the manager's job?

I think that it is a case of 'Ive put my money in so I want a say' with most chairmen not just ours. On that occassion MB just refused AM the money for the transfer, I am sure that that happens on a lot of ocassions within clubs.
