Great area. My favourite place is Menton near Italian border. Also Monaco/Monte Carlo worth a peak, although generally expensive.

Villefranche Sur Mer which is near Nice is very er . . . nice?

Went back after twenty years a little while ago. Seemed a touched congested to me now but it's still gorgeous. Be sure to take some John Barry theme tunes for the hire car.

We went about 5 years ago and went to Monaco and Cannes which was fun. Enjoyed the drive along the corniche. I didn't like the fact that our campsite was practically hemmed in by dual carriageways, couldn't easily go on bikes rides/walks without encountering busy roads. I recall plenty of decent places to eat in town but very busy around the beach in the day time.

Anyone been? Frejus? Nice? Thinking of going there, advice appreciated...

thanks

Different areas offer different things.

Nice is finished now, it's been a building site for the last 10 years, and is great for adults who like food, shopping and soaking up the atmosphere. If you're a fella who doesn't mind what he pays for his beer and is happy sitting back, soaking up the sun and watching some wealthy nubile ladies whilst the waves lap against the pebbles it's great.

Cannes is worth the trip in May, the movie festival is mad, but not overwhelming.

St Tropez is mad, really mad.
