Statistically across football less than 2% of corners result in a goal. As Morinho once said, defensively it's the hardest time to score given the other team have ALL their players back to defend. Yet fans always get excited when a corner is given. It's one of the bizarre peculiarities of the sport - like fans turning up to watch rubbish no matter what and paying a fortune for the previlage.
