Steve Coppell says he is 'torn' between staying at Brighton or moving on to Reading.
The former Crystal Palace chief has emerged as the favourite to succeed Alan Pardew at The Madejski Stadium, after it was confirmed talks had taken place between the two parties.
Coppell has now hinted that he would like to stay with The Seagulls, but may be lured to Reading by The Royals' seemingly greater ambition.
"I am torn," said Coppell. "I have got something great going here. If we had the ground it wouldn't be an issue. We really need to get it sorted out soon.
"I spoke to Reading and nothing was conclusive. I've said to the players, 'I don't know what is going to happen'."
Reading said they expected to appoint manager at the end of last week, so are sure to want a decision from Coppell sooner rather than later.
