Coppell relishing Seagulls reunion
Reading manager Steve Coppell is looking forward to renewing his acquaintance with Brighton on the opening day of the Championship season.
Coppell enjoyed a 12-month period as Seagulls boss from October 2002 before switching to the Royals.
Now the fixture planners have decreed Brighton, promoted under manager Mark McGhee's stewardship via the Division Two play-offs last term, will provide Reading's inaugural Championship opposition when the 2004-05 season gets underway on Saturday August 7.
Coppell told Reading's official website: "I'm delighted to have them first game.
"The success they had last season and the promotion, which I might add I feel a small part of, plus the connections between the clubs will give everyone an extra half-yard."
