I Am Torn
Steve Coppell gave his frankest interview to date on the Reading saga following the 3-0 win over Blackpool - and laid the blame for any possible move away from Brighton on the protracted battle for Falmer.

The Albion boss admitted, "I am torn. I have got something great going here. If we had the ground it wouldn't be an issue.

"Without meaning to, I have been put in a position. I don't want to upset anyone, and I am just a football manager who wants to get on with his trade. "I was put in a position to speak with the Reading people. I did that on Wednesday, and I suppose the best way of putting it was that nothing was conclusive. I have said it to my players: I don't know what is going to happen.

"I have got a great bunch of players here and the vast majority of supporters respect what I am doing. One supporter very pointedly told me at half time that it is not all about money. "If anyone ever accuses me of chasing money; it just doesn't happen. It's not that; it's a lot of other things that I require. Like any manager, any footballer, I want to test my skills at the highest level.

"I have got some serious thinking to do. The players have been fabulous. They were cracking jokes about it on Thursday and Friday, and yet they were able to concentrate. I was mindful that the sideshow might have taken over today. I think they see where I am coming from."

Sorry, but a test of your skills at the highest level must be taking a club like BHAFC up to the 1st Division and then taking on the challenge to do well there.

The fastest route to the Prem may not necessarily be Reading either - and it would only be a terrible risk to stay at Brighton if he failed to do well for us - like has been said, he could move at any time, and the end of season might see him hunted by several Prem clubs .

Surely if he wanted to test his skills at the highest level he would have stayed with Man.City?
