Done well in his fledgling career so far. And I understand he is tea total!!

Who were the four shortlisted last time round? Was Bryan Robson amongst them?

No way - we aren't some experimental club for manager's to learn, we're better than that

Your Martin Hinshey thread was spot on, I heard the same story was quoted 'off the record' to a local journo.
Stick with it mate you may not be too far off the mark

Nigel Clough?

Burton Albion are not exactly setting the Conference on fire are they? They've lost 2 in a row, have only won 4 games so far this season.

Initially I thought he might be the man we are looking for but his record this season is putting me off. Is it down to his capabilities or has he taken Burton as far as they can go? Either way, it means he's not our man. We have limited funds therefore need somebody used to working under those constraints and we also don't need to be used as a frigging springboard for any more big-time charlie wannabes.

Clough has taken Burton as far as he can because essentially they have reached thier potential as a mid table conference club.
He has done well, but maybe could have done better as he has had his pick of Derby County Academy graduates for loan deals.
BAFC also have strong backing from the local Coors brewery and a strong tie up with Derby which includes all Reserve matches being played at Burton, so cash flow, whilst tight is not the problem it is elsewhere.
Clough will progress through the footballing managers ranks as he is an astute individual who has completed most of his coaching badges and seems to have a good aproach to the game.
However progression for him at this stage of his career would be with another, bigger conference club or with a Third division team with potential such as Boston or Doncaster etc etc.
He was interviewed for the Hartlepool position but was judged not to have enough experience.
Taking him to Withdean is a risk that we cannot afford to take

It's a complete no go because Knight would have to offer Burton Albion a compensation package, no chance of that.
